Ask yourself these Questions
- Is there a logical sequence to another study?
- Mark/Acts: see what happens to the people you met in Mark and complete the story of the
early church.
- John, book 2 follows book 1.
- After Mark/Acts, have we studied the basics: John, Genesis, and Romans?
- Do we need variety after several book studies?
- Character studies: They Met Jesus, Lifestyles of Faith...
- Topical studies: Servants of the Lord; Prayer; Change; Work, God's Gift; Set Free;
Relationships...
- Do we need the relevant message of the New Testament letters to the early Christians:
Philippians, Colossians, I John/James, 1 & 2 Peter? (See NBS Study Guides Listed by Title of Study on website)
Or an Old Testament book: Genesis; Psalms/Proverbs; Isaiah?
Note: When studied in sequence, the following 6 guides give an overview of the Old
Testament through its major characters: Genesis, Moses, Lifestyles of Faith, and David.
- How long has it been since we studied one of the four Gospels?
- Do we know friends that we could help to start a new group in Mark? Or do we need to
spin off a new group in Mark, while others of our group go on to a more advanced study?
- Would we like to do a seasonal study?
- During Lent, could we use the Lenten Studies for six weeks?
- At Christmas, do we want to plan a special Christmas study with other friends?
- During summer people are often in and out, so use a guide where each study stands
alone, such as Psalms/Proverbs, They Met Jesus, Conversations with Jesus, Celebrate,
Lifestyles of Faith, Change, Prayer, Treasures, Relationships, Servants of the Lord, or
Work, God's Gift.
- What is the knowledge and background of the group? Check Recommended Levels of Study
for suggestions.
- What are the current needs in the group?
- Have we been together so long that we know what the others will say? Do we need to branch
out, meet new people?
- If 3 or 4 possible study guides are shown for a selection by the group, what questions need to
be raised to help us decide wisely, and to help each member feel free to express an opinion?
For a specific question about what may be appropriate for your group, you may
wish to call NBS at 1-800-369-0307. You will be directed to someone who can
help.
