Neighborhood Bible Studies is a not-for-profit ministry begun in 1960. Its primary
commitment is to evangelism through small group discussion Bible studies. NBS has
developed methods and materials to equip Christians with the necessary tools to share the
gospel with friends, neighbors, co-workers and acquaintances through Bible study. NBS
staff persons provide training in those methods and the best use of the materials.
The secondary commitment of Neighborhood Bible Studies is the ongoing study of the
Word of God in small groups. Through inductive Bible study, men and women have the
opportunity to make informed decisions in response to the claims of Scripture on their lives
and to mature in Christian faith.
Mission Statement
The Mission of NBS is to mobilize and empower followers of Jesus Christ to introduce and multiply small group discussion Bible studies among their neighbors, co-workers, and friends so that participants can encounter God, grow in faith, and pattern their lives after Jesus.
Vision Statement
The Vision of Neighborhood Bible Studies is to invite people everywhere to a relationship with Christ through the study of God's Word.

powerful to change lives when men and women are confronted by the clear claims of Christ.
Neighborhood Bible Studies, Inc. seeks to win men and women to faith in, and allegiance to
Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord by helping them discover for themselves in a small group
what the Bible says, and its implications for their lives.
Doctrinal Position
Neighborhood Bible Studies, Inc. is orthodox and evangelical. The Bible is fully authoritative
and entirely trustworthy, the divinely inspired Word of God.

Our Core Values
Bible Study
We believe God's Word, the holy Bible, is our sole source of knowledge of eternal salvation
and of guidance for daily life, therefore worthy of serious, disciplined thought and study.
Inductive Bible Study
We believe the inductive Bible study method is a sound, practical, consistent approach to
Scripture, promoting personal discovery and application of biblical truth through the use of
study questions.
Small Groups
We believe small groups are conducive to adult learning in a safe, comfortable environment
where people feel free to ask questions and share their personal discoveries of biblical truth
and its meaning and application in their lives.
Shared Leadership
We believe everyone in the group owns the group and is thus responsible to study,
participate, and develop skills to guide the discussion according to the group's agreed rules.
The Authority of the Bible
We believe the Bible, not the study guide or the discussion leader, is the authority in small
group discussions. We believe the consistent study of Scripture in a time of general Bible
illiteracy will lead people to build their understanding of the gospel story and enable them to
trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and to become mature believers.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the effective work of the Holy Spirit, using God's Word, to bring people to
see Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, understand the gospel, trust Jesus for forgiveness and
eternal life, and keep growing in him.
Human Dignity
We believe all people are created by God to worship, serve, and enjoy him. We are
committed to the value and dignity of all people as they study God's Word, giving them
freedom to question, probe, and to accept or refuse God's offer of salvation. We love them
and pray that Christ will become real to them.
